A Few of My Favorite Things

Can I just say, I am sooo excited for 2014!  2013 was a little bittersweet for me. There have been lots of trials, but also SO many things to be thankful for.  Most of all, I am thankful for the love and support of my family and friends who are there for me in good times and bad. I am thankful for my husband and three little kiddles who know me inside and out and love me anyway :).

With that said, I would like to share with you my top 5 favorite things about 2013 and also the top 5 things I am looking forward to about 2014.

5 Things I Loved About 2013

1.  Family Reunions!

Most of my family and extended family live pretty close, but there are a few family members that sadly live too far away for us to get together more than 1 visit every year or so.  One of these families is my brother-in-law Cody, his wife Meredith, and there sweet little girls:  Emerson, Sydney, and Arden.

Emmy and my Lily are only months apart and love each other so much!

I absolutely love when we are able to see these folks.  It is one of my greatest wishes for us to be able to live close to each other one day.

Another visit I look forward to every year is from my maternal grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Clark.  I am so lucky to have such loving, wise people in my life. I love that my kids have gotten to know them so well.
G & G Clark with my brother Trevor on his wedding day.

Another family reunion was with my brother, Jared. He lives in Arizona and RARELY gets to visit us.  It was so fun to have all of us siblings together again!

My brother Sean, me, brothers Trevor, Justin, and Jared.  All in the same place for once!
2. New Family Members

Yay!  I gained a sister-in-law and a niece and a half this year!  (I know she's not a half person, but she's still baking in her momma's tummy).
Mckena and me.  She makes one beautiful bride!

 Niece #4:Ellie Mae
What a difference a month makes.  LOVE HER!
Niece #5: Coming soon!
 3.  Disneyland

Need I say more?  We took our first family Disneyland trip and had a BLAST!

 4.  Celebrating 10 Years of Marriage

I can't believe I have been lucky enough to be married to my best friend for 10 years!  We have had our ups and downs, but through it all we have stuck together! I can honestly say I am way more in love with him today than I was when we first got married. Here's to 70 more, babe!

AHHH!  We look like babies :)

5.  Finding My Passion and Starting My Business

I am so happy I took time this year to really find what I love to do and get to share it with all of you!

Exciting things are in the works. 2014 will be a great year!

5 Things I Look Forward to in 2014

1.  Birth of niece #5

Proud parents of said future niece!

2.  Getting back into my yoga/running routine.

Last year, I was able to lose a total of 50 pounds and get into really good shape. I felt great!  Unfortunately I have gained some of the weight back and have not had the greatest eating habits as of late. Well, last year I dove right in, working out 6 days a week for 1 1/2 hours per day.  I started by doing yoga, due to a stress fracture in my leg and I'll tell you what, YOGA IS AWESOME!  There might be some skeptics out there, but yoga is how I lost the first 20 pounds and it majorly re-shaped and strengthened my body. Anyway, I was able to stick with that routine for 9 months.  Then I got REALLY busy and working out dropped to the bottom of my priority list.  So, yay for working out again!  I think I'll take it slow this time and start with 3 days a week :).

This is the yoga dvd I used to get into shape.  It really works people!
3.  Completing some unfinished things
I am really looking forward to getting these quilts done this year.  Crossing my fingers that I can get them all done!  Some are already in progress, so I'm optimistic!
Find "Juggle" pattern here and "Spools" here
Find "Piece of Cake 2" here.
If you haven't been over to before now is a really good time.  Camille Roskelley has a class right now called Playful Piecing that includes these three patterns above plus one called "Field Day" that she created just for the class.  It is my first online quilting class and I LOOOOVE IT!  What is so great about it is:
- you can go at your own pace
- you can watch the tutorials as many times as you want to
- the pattern price is included with the course fee (which is $29.99 right now, by the way)
- they have the materials to make the quilts available for purchase in their shop
- you can interact with the instructor if you have questions
- the list goes on!

These quilts I have materials for, but just need time to finish. Find "Fireworks" here, "Lucky" here, "Abundantly Blessed" here, "Fresh and Fancy" here, and "Jumping Jacks" here (this one's FREE).
The sad thing is I have more, but I think I'll start with that!
4. New fabrics, books, and patterns
Would love a copy of this book!
Really excited for this fabric!

April Showers by Bonnie & Camille for Moda

Mirabella by Fig Tree & Co. for Moda
5.  I am really excited to get to create more products for Sew In Love Quilting
I'm thinking some sort of baby boots are in order.  What do you think?
And some more handbags . . . like this clutch,

Phew!  Okay I'm really excited now to get to work.  How about you?  What makes you excited about 2014 and what are your resolutions this year?
